Sr. Staff Accountant

Role Overview

DUAL North America is seeking a Staff Accountant. The Accounting team plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the company’s overall financial health. Transactions are processed correctly, records are organized, and reporting is completed in a timely and compliant manner.

In this role you’ll work closely with cross‑functional teams to maintain the general ledger and perform crucial financial activities such as month‑end closing, balance sheet reconciliation, and compliance with company and legal financial guidelines. This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and wants to gain exposure to a variety of accounting functions.

Role Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively across the accounting team to support accurate and timely financial operations.
  • Assist with month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end closing processes, including preparation of financial reports and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger for multiple legal entities.
  • Prepare and support financial audits, including carrier and tax audit documentation.
  • Process and analyze payments for carriers, inspection fees, commissions, and legal fees.
  • Monitor and follow up on past‑due receivables to ensure timely collections.
  • Respond to billing inquiries from agents and underwriting teams via email and phone.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and company accounting guidelines.
  • Perform additional accounting tasks and projects assigned.
Key Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related area preferred, or an equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in an accounting department or with an insurance agency/company; open to a new graduate with an accounting degree or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience with insurance administration systems (particularly IMS) desirable.
  • Strong time‑management skills with a proven ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written, verbal and client‑facing communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel (e.g., look‑ups and pivot tables).
  • Ability and willingness to learn new software and systems.
  • Ability to follow policies and procedures with a commitment to ethical behavior.
  • Accurate and self‑motivated with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% as needed.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time, with occasional movement in the office to access cabinets and equipment.
