Sterile Processing Tech I – Sterile Processing - Sharp Metro Campus - Evening Shift – Per Diem
Join Sharp Health Care as a Sterile Processing Technician (Shift: 2 PM – 10:30 PM, Per Diem).
Hours:
8 hours per shift (8/40). Weekend requirements:
As Needed.
Hourly Pay Range: $28.740 – $35.930 – $40.240.
This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with SEIU‑UHW. Employees in this role are required to join the union within 31 days of hire and remain a member for the duration of the agreement.

To ensure proper maintenance and distribution of disposable supplies and durable medical equipment for patient care.
Required Qualifications- H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
- 1 year experience in an acute care hospital, sterile processing, or surgery department or completion of a program for sterile processing/central supply technician
- Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) – The Certification Board for Sterile Processing & Distribution
- Communicate performance criteria: report malfunctions or questionable loads; facilitate MSDS receipt; provide clear shift reports and logs; notify SPD lead/Nursing units of positive biologicals/wet loads; obtain approval for incomplete sets; evaluation by observation, demonstration, documentation review, staff feedback.
- Department competency: complete initial competencies; demonstrate ongoing competency; implement comprehensive, age/culturally appropriate plans; evaluation by observation, demonstration, quality monitoring, etc.
- Documentation: document sterilizer load contents and labels; track sterilizer loads; document results of biological and vacuum testing; label implants; maintain accurate labeling of instruments/sets.
- Instrument processing: disassemble multipart instruments; separate heavy and delicate instruments; properly care for powered, lensed, and special instruments; inspect for damage; reassemble trays; label trays; operate washers, sterilizers, sonic cleaners, etc.; quarantine implantables until monitors reviewed.
- Professional development: establish annual goals; maintain records; demonstrate self‑discovery; evaluation by observation, documentation review, quality monitoring.
- Supplies: restock carts; prepare case carts; report low stock or outages; request non‑stock items; request sterilization supplies.
- Time and resource management: use resources cost‑effectively; anticipate surgical needs; accept additional assignments; complete delegated duties within time frames; evaluation by observation, demonstration, documentation review.
- Thorough knowledge of surgical instrumentation, sterile techniques, general hospital supplies and equipment.
