We are seeking a stellar Special Operations Performance Dietitian that will provide guidance and counseling on nutritional practices to enhance recovery and optimize performance for special operations forces (SOF) personnel, with the priority on SOF Operators and Direct Combat Support personnel on the Preservation of the Force and Family (POTFF) contract.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform administrative and clinical duties within scope of practice.
  • Provide nutritional planning, counseling, and documentation guided by evidence‐based peer‑reviewed literature.
  • Advise chain of command on nutrition and performance nutrition issues.
  • Work within scope of practice, including ordering labs.
  • Provide individual and group counseling on performance nutrition.
  • Design and implement performance nutrition programs for SOF personnel in garrison, TAD/TDY, and deployed settings.
  • Develop nutritional protocols and guidelines for rehabilitation and performance.
  • Collaborate with the HP Program Manager and/or Coordinator for new protocol implementation.
  • Serve as advisor on dining facility/galley nutrition and liaison with food service and command.
  • Assist other regional SOF assets as required and approved by chain of command.
  • Attend and participate in meetings with POTFF staff and medical personnel as requested.
  • Serve as advisor on supplementary nutrition, supplements, and performance‑enhancing substances within POTFF.
  • Ensure adequate educational materials and sports nutrition supplies are available.
  • Assist with supply inventories and provide input on supply needs.
  • Ensure equipment and facilities under purview of the Performance Dietitian are safe, properly utilized.
  • Maintain and update records as required.
  • Participate in periodic in‑service training for HP Staff.
  • Attend required training and conferences to complete continuing education units.
  • Maintain 100% compliance with local mandatory command training requirements.
  • Perform administrative duties including maintaining records of workload, participation in education programs, and clinical staff quality assurance functions.
  • Participate in peer record reviews as directed.
  • Develop and promulgate training materials as requested by the HP Program Manager/Coordinator.
  • Perform other tasks within scope of position description as assigned.
  • Document work performed, utilization, encounters, referrals, and all information on the Military Electronic Health Record or HP Enterprise‑wide database as directed.
  • Collect and report all data as requested by HP Program Manager and/or Coordinator and USSOCOM HQ.
  • Use computers, software, and technology proficiently as required.
Required Education/Experience/Skills/Training
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Secret Clearance or Top Secret Clearance, or ability to obtain clearance.
  • Master’s degree in Nutrition Science or related field.
  • Certification as a Registered Dietitian (RD) from the American Dietetic Association (ADA) and a Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) (CSSD may be waived if other qualifications are met; must be earned within six months of employment).
  • Current and valid state certification/licensure.
  • May be required to maintain clinical practice privileges.
  • Minimum 3 years of demonstrable performance dietitian experience with individual athletes and groups at NCAA Division I, Olympic, professional, and/or SOF Operators in relevant settings. Full‑time government civilian or contract experience with U.S. Army/Marine Corps Infantry Units may count if gained within the most recent continuous 1 year as on‑site embedded staff.
  • Fluent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to meet physical demands of SOF training, including hiking over rough terrain and functioning in austere environments.
  • Ability to lift and manipulate loads up to 25 kilograms.
