Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Scientist / Senior Scientist, Computational Biology

Scientist / Senior Scientist, Computational Biology

Company: SRT Therapeutics

Reports to: Director of Computational Biology, R&D

About Us: SRT Therapeutics is a San Diego-based biotech company established in 2024 by the founders of Prometheus Biosciences, Steph Targan, MD (Cedars Sinai), Janine Bilsborough, Ph.D. (Cedars Sinai), the scientific team that discovered Tulisokibart (MK7240) and the role of TL1A in IBD and Scott Glenn and Lauren Otsuki, the drug development team that took Tulisokibart (MK7240) from academia into the clinic.

Building on the demonstrated success of the precision medicine approach in IBD with Tulisokibart, SRT Therapeutics will expand this approach by targeting key pathways that not only modulate inflammatory pathways but also promote tissue healing in IBD. This strategy will move SRT Therapeutics beyond the current empirical treatment model to realize the goal of enhancing both outcomes and the quality of care for our patients.

Position Summary: We are seeking a creative and highly motivated Computational Biologist to join our team. This position will support the development and evolution of data-driven precision medicine strategies in inflammatory diseases by identifying, nominating, and validating disease and drug target-associated biomarkers. In this position you will work with both bench and computational biologists to contribute to biomarker strategies across patient segmentation, pharmacodynamic, and clinical translation initiatives, supporting multiple pre-clinical programs.

Your work will utilize cutting edge machine and deep learning techniques applied to public and proprietary multimodal databases which include genetic, transcriptomic, proteomic, histopathological, and electronic health records. In addition to pursuing precision medicine goals, you will utilize a wide variety of data types and analytical approaches to support discovery research, drug development, and IND-enabling studies. The level (Scientist I, Scientist II, or Senior Scientist) will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and strategic capabilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement integrative computational frameworks combining statistical modeling, machine learning, and systems biology to identify robust, reproducible biomarkers and therapeutic targets.
  • Perform rigorous statistical and computational analyses integrating diverse omics datasets, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, single-cell, and spatial sequencing data.
  • Develop scalable and reproducible computational pipelines for biological data processing, harmonization, and cross-modality integration.
  • Develop and implement novel, genomics-based patient segmentation strategies to support precision medicine.
  • Build, train, and tune machine learning and deep learning models using large-scale public and proprietary datasets to predict target activity, patient response, and inform mechanism of action.
  • Support and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of bioinformaticians, data scientists, geneticists, and bench scientists to translate in silico findings.
  • Proactively identify, evaluate, analyze, and integrate mission-relevant genomic datasets into the company's knowledge base.
  • Clearly and rapidly communicate findings, methodologies, and results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Contribute to building our computational infrastructure, implementing coding and architecture best practices (Python, R, AWS, git, etc.).
  • Document and maintain computational workflows for reproducibility, including version control (git), containerization (Docker), and workflow automation (Snakemake/Nextflow).
Qualifications, Education, and Experience

Required:

  • PhD or equivalent experience in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Data Science, Genetics, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years’ post-doctoral experience in drug development, start-up experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in target and/or biomarker identification and validation in a drug discovery setting using multimodal human datasets (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, imaging, and clinical data).
  • Strong hands‑on experience in the quality…
