Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Backend Engineer (Cloud Services & APIs)

Established in 2021, Looq AI is not your average tech company. We’re on a mission to revolutionize infrastructure digitization and analysis, bringing a fresh perspective to the field. Our innovative survey technology platform, the Looq platform, is changing the game. It enables lightning‑fast and scalable 3D capture of survey‑grade information, empowering decision‑makers and enhancing operational efficiency across engineering and utility projects.

Overview

We’re looking for a Back‑End Engineer to own the foundational Cloud infrastructure and API services that enable our platform’s scale and reliability. This role is a critical blend of software engineering and Dev Ops, focusing on designing, building, and scaling our core distributed systems, data processing pipelines, and high‑availability APIs gateway.

You’ll work closely with data scientists, platform engineers, and core product teams to provision, automate, and secure the cloud resources that handle vast amounts of survey‑grade data. If you thrive on building resilient AWS infrastructure, maximizing API performance, and maintaining continuous delivery, you’ll be a vital part of our team.

What You’ll Do
  • Design and implement RESTful and Graph

    QL APIs to support front‑end
  • Cloud Infrastructure:
Design, provision, and maintain scalable cloud resources (AWS EC2, ECS/EKS, S3, Lambda) using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles (e.g., Terraform or Cloud Formation).
  • API Gateway & Services:
Design and implement robust, secure, and low‑latency RESTful and Graph

QL APIs to manage service‑to‑service communication and data streams.
  • Data Pipelines:
Develop and maintain backend services (Node.js/Python) to facilitate high‑volume data ingestion, processing, and transformation within a microservices architecture.
  • System Reliability:
Implement advanced monitoring, logging, and alerting systems (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Data Dog) to ensure high uptime and diagnose performance bottlenecks across distributed services.
  • Dev Ops & Automation:
Own and optimize CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Git Hub Actions, Git Lab CI) to automate testing, security scanning, and deployment into production environments.
  • Security:
Enforce security best practices at the infrastructure layer, managing network access controls, IAM roles, and securing API endpoints.
  • Collaboration:

Work with engineering and security teams to define architecture standards, service contracts, and disaster recovery procedures.
Technical Proficiency
  • Cloud Expertise:
Deep, demonstrable experience with a major cloud provider, preferably AWS (e.g., VPC, ECS/EKS, S3, Lambda, SQS, RDS, etc.).
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
Proven proficiency with Terraform or similar tools for managing cloud environments.
  • Languages:

Strong experience with Python or Node.js for writing performant back‑end services and Lambda functions.
  • APIs & Data:
    Expertise in designing REST, Graph

QL, or gRPC APIs, and solid understanding of SQL/No

    SQL databases (Postgre

    SQL, Mongo

    DB) in a high‑throughput environment.
  • Containerization:
Strong practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes EKS/ECS orchestration.
  • Systems Monitoring:
Experience implementing and maintaining production‑grade monitoring, centralized logging, and alerting tools.
  • Bonus:
Experience with event streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis) and microservices patterns.
What We’re Looking For
  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 4–7 years of experience in a specialized Back‑End, Cloud, or Dev Ops Engineering role.
  • Proven ability to design, deploy, and maintain cloud‑native production systems and API gateways.
  • Strong problem‑solving and debugging skills, particularly in distributed environments.
  • Thoughtful about security, documentation, and system resilience.
  • Able to work autonomously while collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams.
Why Join Us?

At Looq AI, you won’t be writing boilerplate code. You will be building and scaling the foundational Cloud architecture that handles vast datasets generated by our innovative survey technology. You’ll directly enable real‑world applications of 3D mapping, computer vision, and machine learning by creating the robust infrastructure for processing…
