Under the supervision of a Caltrans Maintenance Complete Streets Supervisor, the incumbent must retain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License and will operate equipment, construction machinery, vehicles and tools. The incumbent will perform labor‑intensive work during emergency operations and work associated with maintaining the state highway system specializing in Complete Streets (sidewalk, crosswalk, and bike ways) facilities, including performing field site inventory evaluation and condition assessment of Complete Streets facilities.
The incumbent may travel to remove locations and stay overnight to meet department needs.
Eligibility for hire may be determined by the CALTRANS EQUIPMENT OPERATOR II exam score. Candidates without current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment must be on the state examination list. Unofficial transcripts, diplomas, degrees, foreign qualifications, and equivalency reports may be required. Birthdates and social security numbers must be redacted.
Special Requirements- Position requires a drug screening to be passed prior to hiring.
- A valid, unrestricted Class A commercial driver's license with tank vehicle (N) endorsement is required while performing duties associated with maintaining the State highway system.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a State owned or leased vehicle.
