Position OverviewThis is a unique opportunity to lead one of the nation's largest and most innovative health and service organizations, guiding more than 8,000 employees and a $3.5 billion budget through a period of transformation. The DCAO leads the HHSA’s strategic and operational direction, advancing innovation, collaboration, and equity to strengthen service delivery and improve the quality of life for more than 3.3 million residents.
Reporting to the CAO, the DCAO works closely with the Board of Supervisors, other County leaders, and community partners, shaping the future of San Diego County’s social safety net.
- Lead the strategic and operational direction of the HHSA, overseeing more than 8,000 employees and a $3.5 billion budget.
- Advance innovation, collaboration, and equity to strengthen service delivery.
- Modernize systems and cultivate a culture of trust, accountability, and whole‑community care.
- Work closely with the CAO, Board of Supervisors, other County leaders, and community partners.
Anticipated hiring range: $280,000 – $300,000, plus an attractive benefits package.
