Salary and Benefits
  • New employees will begin on Step A ($5,429.39), Step B ($5,700.86) with 18 months of verified, paid, full‑time equivalent related job experience, Step C ($5,985.91) with 36 months of verified experience.
  • For purposes of salary placement, 7.5 semester units (or equivalent quarter units) of directly related coursework from a regularly accredited institution will be equivalent to one (1) year of job experience.
  • Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the CBA.
  • This position is FLSA – Non‑exempt (may accrue overtime).
  • Excellent benefits are provided to all contract employees with assignments greater than or equal to 50% (0.50 FTE) and all eligible dependents.
  • A temporary probationary period will apply to the employee entering this assignment.
Position Details
  • At SDCCD, the Police Department provides 24/7 law‑enforcement coverage to colleges, continuing‑education campuses, and administrative sites.
  • This role is a Police Communications Lead Dispatcher in the SDCCD Police Administrative Office and Investigations.
  • Responsibilities include enforcing laws, preventing crime, and responding to emergencies while supporting a diverse, educational community.
  • Work hours vary; selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on department needs.
  • Employees may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor.
Desired Qualifications
  • Foreign degrees must be evaluated by an NACES or ACEI member; a copy of the evaluation must be submitted with the application.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.
Conditions of Employment

Selected candidate is required to complete the following prior to employment:

  • Submit official college transcripts as stated on the application.
  • Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam (renewed every 4 years).
  • Have fingerprints taken by Live Scan at the District’s expense (clearance before first day of employment).
  • Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States as required by the I9 form.
  • Attend a new hire processing appointment in People, Culture, and Technology Services.
Employment After Retirement

If you accept a permanent contract position and are a retired annuitant with CalPERS or CalSTRS, you must reinstate from your retirement system.

  • Describe experience providing work direction, training, coaching, or procedural guidance to staff.
  • Provide an example of following detailed procedures, regulations, or operational protocols to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Describe experience maintaining records, logs, files, audio recordings, or operational documentation.
  • Give an example of maintaining operations or carrying out responsibilities with limited supervision.
  • Describe ability and willingness to work a full range of shifts in a 24/7/365 operation.
  • Describe professional development, community involvement, and experience working with diverse groups.
  • Confirm understanding that initial salary placement is the first step of the salary range and that salary negotiation is not allowed.
