Role and responsibilities

As a Research & Development Senior Technician, you will work in a high‑tech laboratory environment, supporting the development of complex modules for ASML’s light source systems. You will assemble, test, and qualify prototype components to meet strict quality standards and timelines. Your role is hands‑on and collaborative, ensuring that every product meets customer expectations.

  • Assemble and test precision components for prototype modules.
  • Inspect and monitor material quality throughout the build process.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project teams to solve technical challenges.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and follow established specifications.
  • Handle and prepare materials, tools, and equipment for internal and external distribution.
  • Support problem analysis and propose solutions to improve processes.
  • Work in both laboratory and cleanroom environments to ensure compliance with cleanliness standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • Completed secondary vocational education with 5-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of precision mechanics in low‑volume or prototype manufacturing.
  • Hands‑on experience with vacuum systems, high‑pressure systems, or similar automated systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical requirements, specifications, and documentation.
  • Experience in laboratory or prototype manufacturing environments.

Other Information

  • This position is located on‑site in San Diego, CA. It requires onsite presence to attend in‑person work‑must events, trainings and meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration and innovation.
  • A flexible workplace arrangement may be available to employees working in roles conducive to remote work (up to two days a week).
  • Routinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch. Occasionally required to move around the campus.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be willing to work in a clean room environment, wearing coveralls, hoods[ix] booties, safety glasses and gloves for entire duration of shift.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch.
