FOOD: Serve at Safe Sleep Site

NOTE:
Adult volunteers only (NO MINORS) Dreams for Change oversees the City of San Diego's safe sleep site which provides shelter and support services to individuals experiencing homelessness. Volunteers are needed to help the Dreams for Change staff set up, serve, and clean up meals for participants at the safe sleep site. This will free up staff to work with participants, providing support services, while volunteers serve meals.

Skills &

Qualifications:

• No prior experience needed
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Able to lift up to 20 lbs and stand for prolonged periods
• Must not have food allergies due to proximity to various food items
• Volunteers must be adults (no minors allowed)

Training Provided: On-site training provided at the beginning of the shift

Attire: Comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. This opportunity takes place outdoors with little or no shade. Volunteers should wear sun protection such as sunscreen and a hat

Bring: Water bottle

Physical Requirements: Prolonged standing, lifting of 20lbs, and no food allergies. Unfortunately this opportunity is not able to make accommodations for individuals with physical limitations. The space where this project takes place is wheelchair accessible

Weather: This opportunity is not canceled in the event of inclement weather. Meals are provided every day, rain or shine

Photos: No photos or recordings can be taken on-site

Note: Clearing a Megan's Law California Sex Offender search before your first shift is required to participate in this opportunity. You must download the Hands On Connect app to your smart device to electronically sign the waiver and check in at this volunteer opportunity. If you do not sign in using the app, your service hours will not be verified and their team will not go back and modify them.

You will sign in at the Dreams for Change Kiosk and open the Hands On Connect app to scan the Hands on San Diego QR code before starting your opportunity. If you do not download and sign-in with the on-site Hands on San Diego QR Code, your hours will not count.
