DESCRIPTION

UC San Diego Health is seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Nurse Manager to support leadership and operations in our Operating Room (OR). This role works closely with the Nurse Manager to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care for intraoperative patients.

The Assistant Nurse Manager supervises staff involved in providing clinical patient care. Assists in ensuring the quality of patient care delivery and serves as a role model for professional nursing practice. Assists with the administration and management of personnel, fiscal, and material resources. May assume full responsibility for the unit in delegated areas and in the absence of the manager.

The Assistant Nurse Manager is involved in ensuring optimal patient outcomes through effective leadership. Promotes environment for a shared voice in nursing practice and exchange of ideas to continually improve nursing and patient care outcomes. Accountable for the quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness of patient care. Consults and collaborates with other health care professionals to coordinate the management of patient care. Serves as a resource to staff, physicians, students and others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) issued by the state of California.
  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
  • Three (3+) or more years of experience working as an Operating Room RN.
  • Demonstrated hospital management skills, with progressive expertise in patient care services.
  • Knowledge to manage disaster incidents, sentinel events and ability to problem solve with critical thinking skills.
  • Must be able to navigate multiple competing priorities. Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and team members and contribute to the successful achievement of the organizational and departmental goals.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to build collaboration, encourage teamwork, and promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • MSN or Master's degree in an affiliated healthcare discipline.
  • Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR).
  • Certified Surgical Services Manager (CSSM).
  • Charge or supervisory RN experience.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $132,600 - $259,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $63.51 - $124.43
