About the Position
This position is located within Naval Medical Center - San Diego, Department of Pediatrics.
Duties- Collect patient data through interviews, observation, physical examination and review of medical records.
- Maintain reporting databases for patient tracking, national certifications, research, and treatment protocols.
- Identify situations in which the physician should be notified immediately.
- Provide nursing care for the pediatric patient during the sedated and post-sedation period.
- Educate patients and/or family members regarding procedures to be performed and treatment provided.
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and interpret laboratory reports to assess the impact of the procedure upon the pediatric patient.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
- Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
- This position requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) training and certification from the American Heart Association or Military Training Network within six months of employment.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training and certification from the American Heart Association or Military Training Network within six months of employment.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- This position is required to work uncommon tours of duty hours such as, on-call, working either fixed or rotating shifts, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
