Pelican Bay State Prison’s mission is to provide constitutional medical, dental, and mental health care in a timely, safe, and efficient manner, addressing preventative health services, chronic disease management, and public health issues. Primary care services are delivered through six daily primary care clinics. The Correctional Treatment Center (CTC) and Urgent Treatment Area (UTA) operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Under the supervision of the Supervising Registered Nurse (SRN) II/III, Correctional Facility (CF), and the clinical guidance of the Registered Nurse (RN) CF, the Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides basic and technical general nursing care to patients in correctional health care settings. The LVN ensures delivery of appropriate and timely health care, provides technical patient care under provider orders and RN delegation, supports daily health care operations, and communicates effectively with patients and team members.

The LVN addresses ongoing patient needs, collaborates with physicians and health care providers, and promotes efficient, appropriate, and cost‑effective use of resources.

• Employees who are employed at Pelican Bay State Prison for 12 consecutive qualifying pay periods will receive an annual $2,600 recruitment and retention bonus.

• Possession of a valid, active license from the State of California to practice as a Licensed Vocational Nurse.
• Pass the License‑To‑Practice examination for Licensed Vocational Nurse in California.
