Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician - San Diego, CA
Join VEG ER for Pets as an Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician. We are a 24/7, nationwide veterinary emergency system dedicated to providing the best possible care for pets and their owners.
THE JOBAs an Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician, you will be integral to our fast‑paced, life‑saving environment. You will handle a full spectrum of cases, from minor to complex emergencies, and work closely with our veterinary team to deliver compassionate, gold‑standard care.
WHAT YOU'LL DO- Treat patients and their owners with empathy, maintaining open communication throughout the entire treatment process.
- Provide nursing care and diagnostics from triage to discharge, including advanced monitoring and life‑support techniques.
- Perform central line placement, endoscopy, ultrasound, and other advanced procedures as needed.
- Administer IV medication, CRIs, blood transfusions, and advanced anesthesia while maintaining patient safety.
- Use critical care knowledge to support anesthesia rescue and oversee postoperative recovery.
- Collaborate with the team to develop care plans, actively participate in case discussions, and assure seamless flow of care.
- Maintain a calm and professional demeanor while handling a high‑volume, stressful emergency environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree in veterinary technology from an AVMA‑accredited program strongly preferred.
- Credentialed as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state where the practice is located.
- One year or more of veterinary technician experience, preferably in emergency or specialty medicine.
- Basic computer and practice‑management software proficiency; familiarity with electronic medical records.
- Strong communication skills, detail orientation, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Physical capability to perform tasks that require standing, kneeling, lifting up to 25 kg alone, and up to 40 kg with assistance.
- Availability for nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating shift work.
- Empathetic and people‑centric, always seeking to understand different perspectives.
- Humble, collaborative, and eager to share credit with the team.
- Accountable and driven to own outcomes and deliver lasting results.
- Curious, asking insightful questions and constantly looking for learning opportunities.
- Competitive compensation: $27,000–$56,000 with a leveling system and 401(k) match.
