We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Research Associate to join our contract research team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in experimental design, technical execution, and data integrity. SummaryThe In-Vivo Senior Research Associate plays a critical role in the execution of in-vivo studies within a contract research environment. This position ensures the highest standards of animal welfare, precise technical execution, and accurate data collection to support client-sponsored projects. The role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to protocols, and the ability to perform advanced procedures with minimal supervision while fostering collaboration across teams.
Responsibilities- Work closely with Study Directors, Coordinators, and In-Vivo Managers to ensure studies follow protocols, SOPs, and company policies.
- Track time spent on projects and maintain accurate project logs.
- Animal Handling & Welfare – Prepare animals for procedures (e.g., shaving, ear tagging) and perform humane euthanasia in mice.
- Ensure animal welfare and report abnormalities promptly.
- Administer therapeutic agents via multiple routes (IP, PO, SC, IM, , IN, IV).
- Perform subcutaneous inoculations, surgical implantations, and advanced in-vivo procedures with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate willingness to learn new techniques and procedures as necessary for sponsored projects, including complex techniques such as orthotopic implantations and model validation.
- Collect body weight data, tumor volume measurements, and clinical observations.
- Provide feedback to team members on project progress.
- Collect tissue and blood samples; process and ship to sponsors or internal teams.
- Track samples and facilitate timely shipment to sponsor companies.
- Maintain clean work spaces, stock supplies, and assist with sample shipping.
- Serve as team leader and/or mentor for other team members as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in animal science or related field
- 5+ years of experience performing in-vivo procedures in a Vivarium environment is required
- Comfortable working in a laboratory animal research environment
- Demonstrated advanced technical expertise in essential in vivo murine oncology tumor models, including:
- Animal handling
- Tumor implantation and measurement
- Gross necropsy
- Drug preparation
- Subcutaneous inoculations
- Drug administration via multiple routes
- Organ and tumor harvesting
- Minor survival surgery
- In-life and terminal blood collection
- AALAS certification at LAT level or higher is preferred
The California salary range for this position is: $70,871 – $80,444
