Position descriptionThe Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics (IGPP) at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California San Diego, has two openings for Cecil H. and Ida M. Green Foundation Postdoctoral Scholars in any area of geophysics starting in 2027.
The PhD awarded to the applicant must have a date no earlier than 3 years before the Final date to receive applications, and no later than 6 months after it, though the 3-year limit may be extended up to one year to allow for parental leaves.
The appointment cannot start until after the award of the PhD.
This is an in-person position with primary work location on the UC San Diego Scripps Institution of Oceanography campus.
We seek individuals who show evidence of producing, and continuing to produce, research in geophysics that is of the highest quality.
Cecil H. and Ida M. Green Foundation Postdoctoral Scholars will be 100% supported from the Green Foundation for Earth Sciences. Starting salary is $75,000/yr plus benefits, along with $3,000/yr of discretionary research funds. Financial assistance for sponsorship of F-1 STEM OPT and J-1 visas is available.

Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application)- Must be nearing completion of a PhD program, or have completed a PhD program.
- Must have research experience in any area of geophysics.
- Must have experience working in collaboration with other scientists.
- Ph.D. in the field of geophysics, or a closely related discipline (for example physics, applied mathematics, engineering).
