We operate a dozen active test and/or training ranges for the Army, Air Force and Navy, and have a 35‑year heritage of supporting complex DoD programs with high quality, cost‑effective results.
At Naval Base Point Loma (NBPL), SA-TECH provides O&M support for home‑ported Range Support Crafts (RSC) vessels, a major U.S. Navy base hosting over 70 tenant commands.
ResponsibilitiesSA-TECH is hiring a Vessel Captain at NBPL to oversee day‑to‑day operation and maintenance of assigned vessels.
- Reports to Port Captain.
- Responsible for the day‑to‑day operation and maintenance of an assigned vessel.
- Ensures the vessel crew has adequate supplies and training for safe task execution.
- Plans voyages and operates vessel safely in accordance with USCG requirements.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; accurately completes required daily logs.
- Will work ashore and afloat on the RSC vessels.
- Overtime is required.
- Vessels may remain out at sea for multiple days in a row.
- Operations conducted in a variety of weather conditions and sea states.
- Normal shipboard physical activity required.
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Minimum 5 years of maritime industry experience as a Captain of a 500GT vessel (10 years preferred).
- Demonstrable knowledge of preventive/corrective maintenance plans.
- Previous experience on DoD contract vessels.
- USCG License 500GT Master Upon Near Coastal Waters with valid medical certificate is required.
- Current Driver's License required; must be insurable under company policy while driving company vehicles during work hours.
- U.S. Citizenship required; must obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance.
