Allstate Security is hiring a full-time Unarmed Security Officer to serve the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla. Help maintain a safe, welcoming campus for the people who work and visit there. If you enjoy staying active, helping others, and taking pride in a job done well, this position offers a clear weekly schedule and a mix of patrol and public-facing responsibilities.

Position at a Glance

• Pay: $21.00 per hour.
• Employment: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Shift: 2:30 p.m.–11:00 p.m.
• Workdays: Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
• Days off: Tuesday and Friday.
• Location: Salk Institute for Biological Studies, 10010 N Torrey Pines Rd, La Jolla, CA 92037.

• A consistent swing-shift schedule with mornings free before work.
• An assigned research-campus location in La Jolla.
• An active role that combines patrol, observation, and customer service.
• Possible weekend Post 1 shift-supervisor duties for the selected candidate, determined during interviewing and onboarding.

• Patrol the campus on weekday shifts, stay alert to your surroundings, and report safety or security concerns.
• Provide a visible, approachable security presence and assist employees and visitors professionally.
• Follow access procedures, site post orders, and emergency response instructions.
• Write clear, accurate daily activity and incident reports.
• Respond calmly to incidents, communicate promptly with site leadership, and provide thorough shift handoffs.
• Maintain dependable attendance, a professional uniform and appearance, and respectful interactions.

Saturday and Sunday shifts may be assigned to Post 1 with shift-supervisor responsibilities. This assignment is subject to change through interviewing and onboarding; it is not a guaranteed supervisor position. Weekday shifts are patrol assignments.

• An active California BSIS Guard Card and valid CPR certification.
• Availability to work all five scheduled days, including both weekend days.
• Reliable transportation to and from the La Jolla site.
• Good judgment, attention to detail, and a calm, courteous approach to customer service.
• Communication skills to read post orders, communicate in English, and prepare accurate written reports.
• Ability to stand, walk, and perform patrol duties for extended periods, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to complete required pre-employment screening.
