Summary

The Senior Complex HVACR Technician (Técnico/a Sénior Complejo de HVACR) is responsible for overseeing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems across all Evans Hotels properties, including The Lodge at Torrey Pines, Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa, Bahia Resort Hotel, Belmont Laundry, and Evans Garage. This position provides advanced technical expertise to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of HVAC equipment that supports guest comfort, operational efficiency, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Essential Duties
  • Perform installation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of commercial HVACR, equipment and related systems.
  • Inspect, clean, and replace filters, belts, bearings, coils, and other key system components.
  • Calibrate thermostats, sensors, and building automation system controls.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical issues with chillers, boilers, pumps, air handlers, and fan coil units.
  • Perform brazing, soldering, and pipe fitting for HVACR equipment as needed.
  • Conduct routine system start-ups, shut-downs, and preventive maintenance checks.
  • Document all maintenance and repair work performed and update equipment logs.
  • Lead inspections, testing, and calibration of HVAC systems to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and manufacturer standards.
  • Oversee energy management initiatives to maximize efficiency and minimize operating costs.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for complex HVACR systems, providing advanced technical expertise across all properties.
  • Partner with property Directors of Engineering and Corporate Engineering leadership to coordinate HVACR maintenance, upgrades, and long‑term planning.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to property-level maintenance staff.
  • Assist with capital planning and vendor management for large‑scale HVAC projects.
  • Train, guide, and support junior-level technicians to become proficient at their work.
  • Ensure adherence to EPA, OSHA, and local regulatory standards for refrigerants, equipment operation, and safety.
  • Maintain accurate service records, refrigerant tracking logs, and compliance documentation.
  • Enforce safe work practices, lockout/tagout procedures, and chemical handling protocols.
  • Monitor building automation systems and controls for efficiency and reliability.
  • Respond promptly to emergency calls and after‑hours service requests as needed.
  • Support hotel sustainability initiatives through proactive maintenance and equipment upgrades.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the leadership team.
