This role participates in the design, development, and validation of software for embedded systems, ensuring compliance with FDA requirements. They play a crucial role in software design, coding, and validation, addressing moderate scope problems, and participating in software development activities under guidance and mentoring junior engineers. Adherence to FDA-compliant Design Control procedures and proficiency in software implementation are key aspects of the role.
** What You’ll Work On
*** Design, implement, and evaluate software using languages such as JAVA, C, C++, C#, and Python
* Assist in preparing software design requirements and specifications in accordance with Abbott's design development process
* Evaluate selected designs through testing and documentation, addressing problems of moderate scope. Participate in software development, verification, and validation activities under guidance Adhere to FDA-compliant Design Control procedures for software development. Demonstrate proficiency in software implementation
* Demonstrates expert knowledge and proficiency of the complete software development process.
* Design and implement robust, scalable, and maintainable software using Java, with a strong grasp of OOP, data structures, concurrency, and design patterns.
* Develop and maintain database, JDBC, RESTful and SOAP-based web services, ensuring high performance and security.
* Architect and implement microservices and SOA-based solutions using frameworks like Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and Jakarta EE.
* Assist in the integration of internal and external systems using API gateways, message brokers (e.g., Kafka, Rabbit

MQ), and enterprise integration patterns.
* Proficiency in Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is expected of knowledge level at least.
* Participate in the end-to-end implementation of all internal and external interfaces, implementation patterns and unit, integration and performance testing strategy for all features in one or more subsystems.
* Debugs, troubleshoots, and isolates software problems as well as provide strategic solutions, analysis, and contribute to process/design improvements.
