** Hourly Rate**$17.25
** Summary
* * Under general supervision, the Senior Fitness Instructor plans and leads safe, engaging, and motivating group fitness classes for our senior member community. Formats include Senior Chair Fitness, Senior Water Aerobics / Aquatic Fitness, Functional Senior Fitness, and additional age-friendly wellness formats. The instructor provides exceptional, personalized service while ensuring programs meet the needs and limitations of older adults.
This role upholds LJBTC’s Signature Service Standards, creating a welcoming, inclusive, and encouraging environment that supports long-term health, mobility, and social connection for our members.

Schedule:

4 - 6 hours per week  Pay: $17.25/hr. plus commission#

* ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* • Leads high-quality senior fitness classes in formats such as:
• Senior Chair Fitness / Seated Strength & Mobility
• Senior Water Aerobics or Aquatic Fitness
• Low-impact Functional Training
• Stretch & Balance / Fall-Prevention
• Silver Sneakers-style senior programming
• Provides modifications for varying fitness levels, mobility limitations, and medical considerations.
• Ensures safe exercise instruction, proper technique, and appropriate class pacing for older adults.
• Prepares and organizes class equipment; ensures it is sanitized and stored properly after each session.
• Welcomes members warmly, supports first-time participants, and encourages consistent attendance.
• Monitors participant safety, responding to incidents per Club protocol.
• Communicates professionally with Members and the Membership Office regarding schedules, attendance, and concerns.
• Tracks attendance accurately to support commission-based compensation.
• Maintains a clean, safe fitness and pool environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
** QUALIFICATIONS
* * Education & Certifications
• Current certification in group fitness or senior fitness:

ACE, AFAA, NASM, Silver Sneakers, Aqua Fitness, or an equivalent accredited program.
• CPR/AED certification required.
• Preferred:
Training specific to senior populations (e.g., functional aging specialist, senior aquatics certification). Experience
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience teaching group fitness classes, ideally with senior populations.
• Experience teaching chair-based, low-impact, or aquatic fitness is strongly preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Strong understanding of exercise safety for older adults, including mobility limitations, balance issues, and chronic conditions.
• Ability to lead motivating, enjoyable classes while maintaining safety and proper technique.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to create a positive, supportive class culture.
• Strong awareness of emergency procedures and injury-prevention practices.
