MWR Recreation Assistant (Lead Lifeguard)
Summary: Serves as a working leader while performing a full range of lifeguard and water safety instruction functions in the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR)/Quality of Life (QOL) Department.
Responsibilities- Provide work direction to Recreation Aids (Lifeguard) and Recreation Assistants (Water Safety Instructors).
- Assist with scheduling, progress monitoring, and compliance checks.
- Evaluate participants’ progress, inform parents/guardians, and recommend improvement strategies.
- Serve as lifeguard by monitoring the pool area, ensuring safety, and preventing accidents.
- Enforce water safety rules, counsel swimmers on risks, and conduct rescues and first aid per standard procedures.
- Complete accident reports, water quality checks, and equipment inspections.
- Lead emergency responses, including chemical spills, medical situations, and facility security.
- Perform housekeeping and facility maintenance tasks as required.
- Assist special events and other related duties as assigned.
- Pass E-Verify employment verification and federal background investigation.
- Work both indoors and outdoors with no fixed schedule; may require early, late, weekend, or holiday shifts.
- Obtain Lifeguard Training, CPR for Professionals, and Standard First Aid within 30 days of hire.
- Be prepared to respond to emergency situations at all times and lift and carry swimmers as needed.
- Hold current and valid WSI/lifeguard certification, first aid, and CPR certifications.
- Maintain drug-free status in accordance with federal requirements.
- Minimum 2 years of lifeguard experience.
- Age 18 or older with proven lifeguard functions.
- Knowledge of rescues, emergency aid, water safety rules, and water‑quality checks.
- Ability to enforce regulations, prepare reports, follow instructions, communicate effectively, and lead a team.
- Successful completion of background checks with favorable results.
- Lifeguard Training

- Standard First Aid by the American Red Cross or equivalent
