Facilities and Operations Coordinator (Athletics Administration Professional I)
Position Summary
The Facilities and Operations Coordinator supports the daily operations and event management of SDSU Athletics, assisting with athletic facility coordination, home contests, special events, and administrative functions. Reporting to the Associate Athletic Director of Operations – Special Events & Projects, this role helps ensure athletic events and facilities are safe, organized, and operated efficiently in support of student‑athletes and departmental goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate home games and athletic events for assigned sports, including facility setup, breakdown, staffing, and game‑day operations.
- Serve as event manager for designated sports and assist with NCAA and conference championship events.
- Coordinate with campus departments and external partners to support event logistics, safety, and facility operations.
- Support daily facilities operations, including maintenance coordination, access control, credentials, and facility projects.
- Provide administrative and fiscal support, including budgeting assistance, purchase orders, contracts, and supervision of student staff and interns.

Position Information
- This is a full‑time (1.0 time‑base) benefit‑eligible temporary position with an anticipated end date of December 31, 2026, with the possibility of reappointment.
- Non‑exempt under FLSA and eligible for overtime compensation.
- Standard SDSU work hours:
Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with flexible evening and weekend availability. - The individual hired will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.
Department Summary
The Department of Athletics, with over 150 employees, manages San Diego State University’s intercollegiate athletics program, comprising 18 sport programs, approx. 550 student‑athletes, and 17 offices including Administration, Athletics Medicine, Business Office, Compliance, Marketing, and Event Management/Facilities and Operations.
Education And Experience
Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field. Relevant education and/or experience that demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis.
Key Qualifications
- At least six months to one year of experience in NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics, professional sport(s), or a facilities and operations office.
- Experience training and leading student workers.
- Experience staging football and basketball events and serving as the game‑day manager for various sports.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and make timely, professional decisions.
- Strong planning, organizing, and scheduling skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Proficient in Windows applications (Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, Outlook, Astra).
- Fiscal responsibility and budget interpretation abilities.
Licenses/Certifications Required
- Valid California driver’s license or ability to obtain one within ten days of hire.

Compensation
- Initial step placement not expected to exceed Step 1 ($4,482).
- CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,482 – $6,530 per month (Step 1 – Step 20).
- Future increases, including step advancements, subject to contract negotiations.
