Under the supervision of a pathologist and in accordance with California Business and Professions Code 1269.3, the Pathology Assistant is responsible for:
- Preparation, gross examination, and dissection of human surgical specimens.
- Conducting postmortem examinations, selecting tissues/fluids for analysis, and collecting data for autopsy reports.
- Preparing bodies for release and managing laboratory operations. Competency must be validated upon assignment, at six months, and annually thereafter.
- Processing surgical pathology specimens including dissection, description, and embedding for pathologist’s diagnosis.
- Performing other related duties and completing special projects within defined time frames.
, PA (ASCP), or an equivalent nationally recognized agency approved by the Department of Public Health.
Pay Transparency: The hospital offers competitive compensation and benefits. A reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $40.00 to $57.93 hourly. Exact starting compensation is determined at hire based on factors such as skillset, experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
