Purpose

Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Head Coach of Men's Soccer is responsible for the overall successful development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of Men's Soccer cifically, the Head Coach will develop and conduct in‑season training and instruction, recruit student‑athletes, assist with the academic success of the student‑athletes, manage the program’s fiscal budget, and supervise the assistant coaches. The selected candidate will build, operate, and maintain a Christ‑Like centered culture in the program.

Responsibilities

Primary duties are instructional; however, head coaches are expected to perform recruitment and meet roster goals, in addition to some administrative duties, such as ensuring compliance with regulations and overall departmental policies; helping with game operations and staffing assignments; communicating with student‑athletes; helping oversee assistants and promoting academic achievement within the Men's Soccer program; monitoring study hall and community service work for student athletes.

All other assigned work follows the Director of Athletics.

Essential Duties
  • Instructing and developing student‑athletes in proper skills and strategy.
  • Coordinating weekly practices and other instructional times.
  • Assisting with the academic success of student‑athletes.
  • Modeling caring relationships with students through personal interaction and serving as an effective role model of a Christian life.
  • Recruiting student‑athletes for the Men's Soccer program, meeting the minimum of 22 student‑athletes.
  • Representing the institution at internal and external recruiting events.
  • Managing the program’s fiscal budget.
  • Providing supervision to assistant coaching staff.
  • Ensuring compliance with all athletic department requirements.
  • Fundraising a minimum of $10,000 to support the Athletics Department.
Other Duties for Game Management Coordinator
  • Responsible for setup and tear down of home athletics competitions.
  • Coordinate times/schedules for opposing teams for practices and shoot‑arounds in collaboration with our team's schedules.
  • Management of the gate and concessions tables at athletics competitions.
  • Scheduling and oversight of student‑workers at the home events.
  • Recruitment of staff to work, training, and management of timecards and schedules for student‑workers in Paylocity.
  • Create a Visitor Guide for LPU, which details everything an opposing team would need to know prior to coming to our institution.
  • Reach out weekly to schools visiting LPU with Visitor Guide and the opposing team’s practice/shoot‑around schedule.
  • Working with potential sponsors to secure a banner in the gym and hosting sponsored games.
  • Chick‑fil‑A Night.
  • One & All Night.
NOTE

Though not required, this position is optionally eligible for appointment as a Foursquare minister under certain conditions. If appointed as a minister, the employee will be available to provide pastoral care and prayer. In addition, s/he may be called upon to perform sacerdotal duties upon request of the University.

Minimum Requirements
  • Vibrant and authentic Christian faith and worldview consistent with the College's Statement of faith which all employees are required to sign.
  • Strong coaching background and demonstrated success instructing, recruiting, and retaining student‑athletes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and donor development software).
  • Bachelor’s degree is required; a bachelor’s degree in health, exercise science or a related field such as sports management is preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively.
  • California Class B Driver License (can be obtained upon hire).
