General Description of Duties

Analyze, develop, and improve products using raw materials. Match products supplied by customers and competitors. Calculate costs and suggested selling prices. Evaluate and test prototypes. Supervise R&D Chemists and Lab Technicians as needed.

Essential Job Functions

• Demonstrate creativity in product development.
• Develop new and existing products like Juice Concentrates and Flavors based on customer or in-house requirements with minimal supervision.
• Assess project feasibility considering production capacity, technology, and equipment.
• Perform cost analysis and determine selling prices.
• Create master formulas and instructions.
• Prepare and update product specifications.
• Communicate with customers' technical staff to meet their needs.
• Provide technical support to customers and brokers.
• Support customers during first production runs and troubleshooting.
• Train R&D Chemists.
• Establish guidelines for outgoing samples.
• Assist in first-time production with Q.C. and Production teams.
• Handle sample inquiries in the absence of the R&D Manager.
• Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
• Must lift up to 25 lbs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Food Science, or related field.
• At least 5 years of Chemist experience.
• Strong analytical, R&D, laboratory skills.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
