About Mercor

Mercor is at the intersection of labor markets and AI research. We partner with leading AI labs and enterprises to provide the human intelligence essential to AI development.

Our vast talent network trains frontier AI models in the same way teachers teach students: by sharing knowledge, experience, and context that can't be captured in code alone. Today, more than 30,000 experts in our network collectively earn over $1.5 million a day.

Mercor is creating a new category of work where expertise powers AI advancement. Achieving this requires an ambitious, fast‑paced and deeply committed team. You’ll work alongside researchers, operators, and AI companies at the forefront of shaping the systems that are redefining society.

Mercor is a profitable Series C company valued at $10 billion. We work in‑person five days a week in our new San Francisco headquarters.

About the Role

The Senior Accountant will play a key role in the monthly close process, with a primary focus on revenue, cost‑of‑sales, and related balance sheet accounts. You will drive end‑to‑end revenue accounting workflows, maintain accurate reconciliations, support audit requirements, and prepare components of the monthly reporting package with strong analytical insight. This role is essential in maintaining data integrity across the general ledger and subledgers and supporting a scalable, well‑controlled accounting environment.

You’ll Do Revenue, Cost of Sales & Reporting
  • Execute revenue recognition workflows in accordance with ASC 606 and company policies.
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency across the GL, revenue systems, and subledgers.
  • Contribute to the monthly reporting package, including flux analyses, trend insights, and KPI reporting.
Monthly Close
  • Prepare journal entries for revenue, cost of sales and related balance sheet accounts.
  • Maintain work papers and tie‑outs to support an efficient and timely close.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies by partnering closely with cross‑functional teams.
Internal Controls & Process Documentation
  • Perform internal controls over revenue and financial reporting; maintain complete and organized control evidence.
  • Document accounting procedures and contribute to scalable processes and SOPs.
  • Assist in identifying process gaps and strengthening the control environment.
Audit Support
  • Prepare audit‑ready documentation, work papers, and PBC deliverables focused on revenue, cost of sales and related balance sheet accounts.
  • Maintain standardized templates for audit support and internal review.
  • Respond to auditor inquiries with accuracy, clarity, and timeliness.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Rev Ops, FP&A, Legal, and other internal teams to ensure accuracy in revenue and contract data.
  • Collaborate with external consultants or system vendors on revenue tools, workflows, and data integrity.
What We’re Looking For
  • 3–5+ years of accounting experience, ideally including both public accounting and high‑growth company experience.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, with emphasis on ASC 606 revenue recognition.
  • Hands‑on experience preparing reconciliations, journal entries, and month‑end schedules.
  • Experience in a startup or high‑growth environment is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
  • Excellent documentation, organization, and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail, strong analytical mindset, and ability to work independently.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment with evolving processes.
  • Demonstrated ownership, professionalism, and adaptability.
