This individual will play a critical role in evaluating compensation structures at target companies, assessing financial implications of harmonizing to Uber's compensation philosophy, and overseeing compensation program management for existing subsidiaries. WhatYou'll DoM&A Due Diligence & Deal Support
- Support compensation work streams during M&A transactions, including due diligence and integrations (including data intake, validation, benchmarking, and risk identification)
- Evaluate target companies' compensation philosophy and structure (base pay, variable pay, equity, sales incentives, and benefits) to identify gaps, compliance risks, and areas requiring remediation
- Develop compensation diligence summaries and financial impact assessments for Corporate Development, Finance, HR leadership, and business leadership
- Partner with People M&A, Legal, and Finance teams to align diligence findings with broader deal strategy
- Model the financial impact of aligning target company roles and incumbents to Uber's job architecture, compensation ranges, and pay-for-performance frameworks
- Conduct market benchmarking to determine appropriate compensation positioning for acquired employees across geographies and job functions
- Build scenarios that quantify cost implications of harmonization decisions, including salary adjustments, bonus targets, equity transitions, and special retention programs
- Provide clear, data-driven recommendations that balance competitiveness, consistency, cost management, and employee experience
- Manage compensation programs for existing subsidiaries, supporting local HR teams with salary structures, job mapping, and governance processes
- Ensure subsidiaries' compensation practices remain aligned with Uber's philosophy, ranges, policies, and compliance standards
- Monitor compensation trends and identify integration risks or misalignments over time, proposing corrective actions as necessary
- Build and maintain analytical models, dashboards, and templates used in M&A diligence and harmonization processes
- Maintain documentation and repeatable processes to improve operational efficiency and scale compensation integration practices across transactions
- Partner with Legal to ensure compliance with local labor regulations, pay equity requirements, and statutory obligations
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, HR, Economics, Business, or related field
- 4+ years of experience in compensation, HR analytics, corporate finance, or consulting; experience supporting M&A transactions strongly preferred
- Advanced proficiency in data modeling and analysis tools (Excel/Google Sheets required)
- Experience with compensation market data sources (Radford, Mercer, WTW, etc.)
- Experience with job architecture frameworks
- Prior experience conducting compensation due diligence or supporting integrations in a corporate or consulting environment.
- Strong understanding of compensation design principles, global market practices, and governance.
- Ability to interpret complex compensation structures and synthesize them into concise, executive-ready insights.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, particularly working cross-functionally with HR, Finance, Legal, and Corporate Development.
- Exceptional analytical and modeling skills, with the ability to quantify and communicate the implications of compensation decisions.
- A solutions-oriented approach and comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-paced deal environments with shifting priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills suitable for senior and executive audiences.
- A commitment to harmonizing compensation practices in a way that supports Uber's philosophy while managing cost, equity, and compliance.
