Motion Designer

Story is seeking a Motion Designer based in the San Francisco Bay Area to create and animate motion graphics for Story films, client work, and original series. This role partners closely with directors, editors, VFX artists, and producers to develop concepts, integrate motion into final deliverables, and refine output based on feedback while meeting tight deadlines.

• Design and animate motion graphics for documentary, brand, client, and original content.
• Create work based on director and producer briefs, while contributing original visual ideas.
• Collaborate with editors and VFX artists to integrate motion into the completed piece.
• Iterate on feedback and deliver polished results under tight deadlines.
• Maintain organized project files and manage your delivery workflow.
• Participate in client conversations alongside producers when needed.

• Strong portfolio showing motion design across multiple styles.
• Proficiency in After Effects

• Ability to complete a paid test project

• Located in the SF Bay Area or willing to relocate.
• Degrees are not required, as your work and outcomes carry the evaluation.

• Experience with Cinema 4D or Blender, along with compositing or VFX background.
• A strong design eye that remains consistent across every frame.
• Speed and flexibility when exploring multiple creative directions.
• Confidence to propose alternative approaches when an idea can be improved.
• Curiosity about expanding skills across motion and post-production.
