Monitoring the Situation (MTS) is hiring an Editor to help shape and refine content for MTS Live.

This role is for a strong editor who can work quickly, exercise sound editorial judgment, and help create clear, engaging content in a fast-moving production environment. The MTS team operates at a fast pace, so this person should be comfortable moving between projects, responding to changing priorities, and delivering high-quality work on tight timelines.

MTS Live aims to be a calm place of reason, particularly when covering complex or potentially divisive subjects. The ideal candidate can approach content thoughtfully and objectively, separating personal views from editorial decisions and engaging fairly with a range of perspectives.

• Edit and refine content for MTS Live with a focus on clarity, pacing, structure, and storytelling.
• Help shape narratives and ensure content is compelling, coherent, and easy for audiences to follow.
• Work quickly within a fast-paced production environment and adapt to changing priorities.
• Apply strong editorial judgment when working with complex, timely, or potentially divisive topics.
• Help maintain MTS Live’s goal of providing thoughtful, reasoned content rather than overly partisan commentary.
• Collaborate with the MTS team to develop and refine content from initial concepts through final delivery.
• Maintain quality and consistency while working within tight production timelines.

• Professional editing experience in media, digital content, video, or a related environment.
• Strong storytelling instincts and an understanding of narrative structure.
• Experience with narrative development or screenwriting is preferred.
• Ability to work effectively and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong editorial judgment and the ability to approach political and cultural topics objectively.
• Comfortable working with content representing a range of perspectives and viewpoints.
• Able to balance speed, accuracy, clarity, and storytelling when making editorial decisions.
