What started as the “Expedia of health insurance” has evolved into a market-leading SaaS company reimagining how governments deliver healthcare and safety-net programs. Our proven SaaS platform for State-based Exchanges and our AI solutions power eligibility, enrollment, and benefit delivery across health insurance, childcare, case management, and more. We’re on a mission to make public services simple, accessible, and human-centered, helping states reach more people, faster.
We hire designers for craft and judgment first. AI is how we work, a creative multiplier we expect you to use fluently, but a sharp eye for design, genuine creativity, and a collaborative, inclusive approach to problem-solving are the foundation. Learn more at
What You’ll Do:You’ll own end-to-end experiences, from problem framing to tested, high-fidelity, production-ready design, using an AI-accelerated workflow that moves faster than a traditional process allows. A core part of the role is turning ideas into working demos quickly and independently: you’ll take a short briefing, roughly a few hours of direction a week, and carry the work forward on your own. Specifically, you will:
- Solve real design problems. Frame ambiguous problems, explore directions, and produce wireframes, prototypes, and polished interfaces for web and mobile UI, owning the critical judgment that decides what ships.
- Design the AI product experience itself. Craft UX patterns for AI-driven features: conversational and agentic flows, prompt and input design, streaming and loading states, confidence and citation display, human-in-the-loop review, error recovery, and graceful fallbacks across our eligibility, enrollment, and case-management products.
- Prototype fast, with AI in the loop
. Independently stand up interactive, code-backed prototypes and demos using prompt-driven and generative tools (e.g., Figma, Figma Make, Claude, ChatGPT) and AI codegen, so stakeholders test real behavior rather than static mockups, and do it on a fast cadence. - Turn data and research into decisions
. Use AI to help synthesize analytics, research data, and user feedback into insights, then translate those insights into design direction, validating AI output against the source. - Evolve the design system. Maintain and extend shared patterns, tokens, and UI kits, and help move us toward a design-to-code workflow (e.g., connecting components to code via Figma Code Connect).
- Collaborate across disciplines
. Partner with product, engineering, QA, data science, and business stakeholders to deliver effective solutions together. - Champion accessibility and usability. Advocate inclusive design to the latest WCAG standards and hold AI-assisted output to the same bar.
- A strong portfolio showing complex problems solved through interaction design, visual design, and solid UI prototyping, with your thinking and judgment visible, not just the output.
- 5+ years of professional UX/product design experience in software/information design.
- A good eye and genuine craft: strong interaction and visual design judgment, and the ability to tell good work from generic work.
- Highly self-directed. You can work independently with business stakeholders and product managers, bring a UX point of view to the problems, find solutions, articulate decisions, and deliver strong work with minimal need for oversight.
- Hands-on experience with design systems and component libraries.
- Solid understanding of semantic HTML/CSS and mobile responsiveness, and the ability to translate Figma specs into front-end guidance.
- A collaborative, inclusive approach: you communicate clearly, articulate and defend design decisions, invite other voices, and work well across distributed…
