Overview
San Francisco Studio at Perkins&Will is seeking a passionate and highly collaborative Interior Project Manager with 8-10+ years of workplace interior experience. The role focuses on creating workplace design solutions that align people, culture, processes, and technology with client organizational goals. We operate with a highly customized and agile team approach for each client and project. The position requires a team player with excellent communication, collaboration with a design team, adaptability to a fast-paced process, and knowledge of the tools of the trade.

- Understands and consistently executes all aspects of the design process and project complexities to contribute to the overall success of the team while adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in interior design, execution, and living design.
- Takes full responsibility for managing all aspects of projects to ensure efficient execution within scope and budget.
- Manages project teams, fosters collaboration, demonstrates strong and effective communication and direction, inspires high team performance, drives innovative design ideas, and ensures successful project delivery.
- Participates in developing and validating project scope and fee, budget, and scope of services during the marketing and contract development process.
- Provides complete and timely communication of project information to and from clients and project team.
- Understands and responds to technical implications and design decisions.
- Manages the project using the Deltek Project Management system; completes work plans including identification of project team members, budget, consultants, schedule for completion, fees and costs, as well as project change notices or other actions taking place on the assigned project.
- Works with Interior Project Designers to avoid or eliminate schedule conflicts due to changes in various projects.
- Provides ongoing communication through team meetings/minutes/update memos to the project team.
- Prepares strategic plans for project success.
- Serves as primary client liaison to maintain client satisfaction.
- Participates in marketing opportunities and develops successful client relationships for continuing business.
- Monitors risk by addressing client and technical issues in a timely manner to minimize liability.
- Understands design philosophies and current trends, including planning, space planning, documentation, furniture specifications, materials, and finishes.
- Reviews work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and compliance with the Project Delivery Manual.
- Mentors and trains staff.
- Coordinates staffing resources with the Operations Director.
- Coordinates effectively with clients, partners, and consultants to manage timely resolution of planning, documentation, furniture, and business issues.
- Understands project financial management and contract administration, including project coordination, budgeting, scheduling, and contract negotiations.
- Cultivates partnerships with industry professionals including General Contractors, Engineers, Furniture Dealers and Audio-Visual Consultants.
- Bachelor’s degree in interiors, architecture or related discipline required.
- 8-10 years of relevant experience including with corporate office clients.
- Experience in all phases of project design, construction documentation production, programming, space planning and FF&E.
- Understanding of project financial management and contract administration including project coordination, budgeting, scheduling, and contract negotiations.
- Basic project management software skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to direct, mentor, and coordinate work efforts of multiple project teams.
- LEED GA or obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Professional Accreditation in one area of Living Design (e.g., LEED AP with Specialty, BREEAM AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, Passive House-related credentials, or ILFI Living Future Accreditation).
- Licensure (NCIDQ or registered architect) preferred.
