Join a Top 10 global design firm in our Mission Critical Buildings practice that provides Architecture, Buildings Engineering, and Interior Design services with a long history and deep commitment to the sector. We are seeking a Project Architect to join our buildings practice.

Our Sacramento/San Francisco office is seeking a Project Architect to support Mission Critical projects. In this role you will work independently and collaboratively through the planning and creation of fiscally responsible, cutting‑edge designs. Your experience ensures that you are quite familiar with construction plans, specifications, estimates and building codes. You will be innovating and creating new prototypes designed with sustainable products with green architecture sensibility as your goals.

You will lead the development of integrated design proposals, develop and manage integrated work plans, and coordinate with clients, while leading and mentoring others and collaborating with team members to contribute to the final deliverables as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for small to large projects of high complexity.
  • All of the below are items we would like you to lead, while mentoring others:
  • The technical portion of the project including discipline coordination and providing technical direction to the design team.
  • Participate in client project requirement meetings and value analysis and basic cost estimating.
  • Interpret and apply building codes and requirements of other regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare and revise documentation in various architectural phases including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, building sections, details.
  • Participate in bidding and negotiation phase and prepares addenda.
  • Lead the construction administration phase with the design team, including but not limited to reviewing shop drawings and submittals, responds to RFIs, prepares site observation reports, and other contract administration tasks.
  • Assist in the preparation and coordination of specs with construction documents.
  • Participate in constructability review.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects.
  • Strong Revit skills, familiarity with clash coordination strategies a plus.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Passion for and experience with Mission Critical and similar building types.
  • Requisite knowledge and application of accessibility codes, applicable building codes. Also, knowledge of building construction systems, means and methods, materials, and industry associated standards.
  • Strong understanding of all phases of architectural document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of building construction systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
  • Conduct space planning, block planning and adjacencies in coordination with building program.
  • Develop floor plans, wall sections, and details.
  • Check work of others for accuracy and completeness.
  • Lead a team through all phases of architectural document production.
  • Participate and collaborate in a project team setting through all phases of architectural document production.
  • Engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Hand sketch and communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively.
  • Interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material.
  • Communicate abstract ideas (verbal/written).
  • Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and Revit.
  • AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Grasshopper/Rhino, and/or Sketch Up a plus.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
  • Professional licensure required, California preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience…
