Creative Design / Digital Art, Product Designer
Intuit is building the future of how small businesses discover, adopt, and grow with Quick Books, and the Growth team is looking for a Principal Product Designer to help shape that next chapter. In this onsite role in San Francisco, you will own design strategy and outcomes for a major Product Growth area across the customer lifecycle, partnering closely with product, engineering, data science, and growth marketing to deliver durable, high-quality experiences.
With a strong pay for performance approach and eligibility for bonus and equity, this position is designed for senior designers who can combine craft with strategy. You will set direction across acquisition, activation, engagement, monetization, and retention, while leading an AI-first design strategy that reimagines end-to-end journeys with AI at the center.
What you’ll do- Own the design strategy and vision for a major product area, connecting near-term experimentation to long-term, high-quality customer experience across the lifecycle.
- Take direct accountability for experience quality and business results, partnering with PM on clear North Star and operational KPIs tied to conversion, activation, engagement, and retention.
- Drive an AI-first design strategy by redesigning end-to-end customer journeys with AI as a core element rather than focusing on isolated feature polish.
- Set the bar for a high-velocity experimentation culture, supporting discovery, concepting, rapid prototyping, and A/B testing on the highest-leverage surfaces while protecting craft.
- Up-level design craft across the team by raising standards for visual, interaction, and systems-level design, ensuring experiments and shipped work reflect a cohesive product experience.
- Influence senior leadership and cross-functional partners using craft-forward storytelling and research-backed points of view to align on target customers and the experience needed to win them.
- Coach designers and partners on craft and strategic thinking, shaping the team’s identity, design standards, and operating model as the growth muscle scales.
- Partner deeply with product, engineering, data science, and growth marketing to ship scalable, high-quality, high-craft solutions.
- 10+ years of hands-on product design experience in enterprise, platform, or complex B2B products, with demonstrated range across multiple problem spaces.
- A track record of leading ambiguous, cross-functional initiatives to outcomes, including situations where you were not the most senior person by title but became the person others rallied around.
- Comfort operating at the intersection of design, product, and engineering, with emotional intelligence to partner with engineers under pressure.
- Deep, hands-on fluency with AI as a design material: how AI-native products should look, feel, and behave, and how to design experiences that make powerful AI capabilities feel simple (core to the role).
- Strong facilitation instincts to build alignment and create forward motion without formal authority.
- A bias toward fast, iterative validation over polished-but-slow execution, including fluency with AI-powered design and prototyping tools such as Claude and Cursor (or similar).
- Demonstrated mentorship of other designers, including judgment about when to unblock directly versus build capability.
- Excellent executive communication skills to represent design thinking clearly and persuasively.
- Bachelor’s degree in Product Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, or a related field.
- A portfolio showing range across problem types and altitudes, plus evidence of facilitation and cross-functional leadership.
- Expected base pay range: USD 239, per yearly
- Location notes: San Francisco (Howard Street), CA: USD 239,
- Competitive compensation package with pay for performance rewards approach
- Cash bonus eligibility
- Equity rewards eligibility
- Benefits eligibility (in accordance with applicable plans and programs)
Location: San Francisco, CA (onsite)
