Hematologic Malignancy, Bone Marrow Transplant, and Cellular Therapy (HBC) Hospitalist

UCSF Division of Hospital Medicine is seeking applicants for the hematologic malignancy, bone marrow transplant, and cellular therapy (HBC) hospitalist position. Our goal is to provide new faculty members with clinical experiences that match their interests. Many faculty hired as HBC hospitalists transition to subspecialty fellowships, while others remain on the faculty.

Position Details

The UCSF HBC service is a collaborative program involving the Division of Hospital Medicine and the Division of Hematology/Oncology. The service provides care to inpatients requiring bone marrow transplant or management of hematologic malignancies ("liquid tumors"). The service admits approximately 1200 patients per year. Created in July 2007, the HBC Service uses a hybrid model with collaborative care provided by hospitalists and oncology faculty.

Hospitalists manage day-to-day patient care while oncology physicians provide oncologic expertise. The service is organized in teams comprising an oncologist, a hospitalist, and a nurse practitioner. The HBC team is dedicated to high-quality, safe, equitable, patient-centered care and thrives on a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach with nurses, pharmacists, and physicians working together to maximize patient-centered care.
