Health Sciences Assistant/Associate/Full Clinical Professor Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
University of California, San Francisco School of Nursing, Department of Physiological Nursing is seeking qualified individuals for a part-time or full-time appointment as a Health Sciences Assistant, Associate, or Full Clinical Professor in the Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG ACNP) specialty. Faculty will engage in the education and training of Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) graduate students and serve, when appointed, as the Specialty Coordinator (SC) for the AG ACNP program.
PositionDescription
Major faculty responsibilities include:
- Teaching DNP students using classroom, online, and hybrid modalities, skills labs, simulation, and clinical settings, with a focus on adult and geratric patient populations requiring complex acute care. Responsibilities also include curriculum development, student admissions, clinical placement coordination, and oversight of faculty and student activities as SC.
- Maintaining an active clinical practice and supervising cohorts of AG ACNP students across acute care settings; serving as preceptor development trainer at clinical sites.
- Participating in faculty meetings, departmental, school, and campus committees; contributing to professional, community, and academic organizations.
- Engaging in quality improvement projects, dissemination of clinical knowledge, and educational innovations through presentations and manuscripts.
- Providing oversight of all student and faculty activities, curriculum content, and academic retreat organization as SC.
Education/Licensure/Qualification – Minimum (required):
- Doctorate in Nursing Practice, Doctorate in Education, Doctor of Philosophy, or pending enrollment in a relevant doctoral program with expected completion by June 14 2026.
- Current or eligibility for California Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, and Nurse Practitioner Furnishing licenses; all licenses required by June…
- National certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG ACNP) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
- Four (4) or more years of clinical experience as an ACNP or AG ACNP in an acute care setting (inpatient, emergency department, clinical decision unit).
- Three (3) or more years of teaching experience at the graduate level, including didactic delivery at regional or national conferences and teaching advanced practice nursing students or fellows.
Additional Qualification – Ideal (desired):
- Experience with hybrid and online teaching.
- Proficiency in advanced procedures: point-of-care ultrasound, central line placement, lumbar puncture, arterial line placement, suturing, thoracentesis.
- Evidence of teaching excellence in classroom or clinical settings.
- Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office, Adobe products, and Electronic Health Records.
- Leadership or participation in national professional organizations.
- Curriculum Vitae – most recent update with current and/or pending qualifications.

For positions 51 % effort or more: minimum base salary $103,100–$319,800, subject to Health Sciences compensation plan. For positions 50 % effort or less: estimated salary $93,700–$246,000. See relevant tables for detailed ranges.
