Job Summary

The Multicultural Resource Center (MRC) leader will be open to exploring different perspectives and working collaboratively with students, staff, faculty, and community partners to educate, facilitate dialogue, and promote awareness.

As a member of our academic community, you will advance a culture and climate of belonging for all. The MRC Assistant Director provides leadership regarding cultural awareness programs and events, and outreach and engagement opportunities. They provide excellent customer service as a liaison and consultant, supporting the UCSF community and allies to identify and address barriers, design solutions, and build awareness.

The work is grounded in anti‑discrimination principles, a commitment to fairness, and facilitating opportunities. This role reports to the Executive Director of Resource Centers for Climate and Belonging.

Department Description

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a related area and minimum three years of related experience or equivalent experience/training

• Academic advising experience and advanced counseling techniques

• Exhibited knowledge of student affairs or student life

• Demonstrated commitment to the UCSF Pride Values and Principles of Community and anti-discrimination theories to guide their work

• Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple organizational units and overcome complex institutional barriers

• Experience in the development and delivery of presentations, workshops, and large-scale events

• Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem-solving, and process improvement

• Abilities in project management, problem identification, and program outcomes

• Ability to work effectively across differences and find common ground

• Ability to professionally communicate information in a clear and concise manner across a variety of domains; solid knowledge and use of English grammar; excellent writing and proofreading skills

• Demonstrated ability to work in an environment which involves handling confidential, sensitive situations or matters with respect and good judgment

• Excellent customer service

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree in social sciences or humanities (Counseling, Education, History, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology) or equivalent experience or training

• Knowledge of UC policies, procedures, and systems

• Knowledge of public relations and marketing principles and practices
