City Arts and Leadership seeks an experienced ELA and Humanities Instructional Coach to lead teachers to success in a diverse college-prep school community.
THE POSITIONThe ELA and Humanities Instructional Coach will report directly to the assigned site Principal and will matrix to the Senior Director of Academics at our Support Office. The Coach is a member of the School Site Instructional Teams, and is charged with supporting teachers with delivering exemplary pedagogy to all students within their subject area of expertise. The Coach provides leadership and assistance in implementing student work analysis, intellectual prep, curriculum adoption, analyzing formative assessment data, and conducting professional development for enhancing teaching strategies with the goal of ensuring that every teacher is delivering rigorous, grade level appropriate instruction.
The Coach will also lead the development of aligned unit and lesson plans, support instructional inquiry cycles, design and deliver exemplary professional development, and model lessons and pedagogical strategies in classrooms as needed. The Coach will also provide mentorship and context coaching for teachers going through their intern or induction years. The highly successful candidate has a love of teaching and learning, deep content knowledge, expertise with designing standards-based curriculum and delivering rigorous and equitable instruction to diverse learner groups, and a passion for closing the opportunity gap for students.

- Work with Principals to Identify and support coherent resources and guidance for curriculum, instruction and assessment
- Engage in weekly classroom observations cycles, intellectual prep, and student work analysis with teachers
- Facilitate professional learning communities and instructional rounds, analyze data and articulate progress across the content area, reflect on teacher practice and analyze student work (e.g., classroom video, lesson plans, student work, audio recordings, observations, teacher narratives), to plan next steps to improve teacher practice, and to reflect on student learning and growth.
- Support the writing of lesson plans for long term substitutes
- Support school leaders and teachers with the implementation of rigorous, data driven summative and formative assessments by partnering in facilitating the administration, scoring, and data analysis of academic assessments.
- Lead demo-lessons, book studies, and trainings during PD days and intersession PD.
- Align school-site PLCs to organizational goals and instructional priorities by backwards mapping curriculum, instruction, and goals from the Common Core State Standards.
