Contract

Hire Art is helping our client find a hands-on and detail-oriented Engineering Technician to support the build, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of advanced hardware and technical systems. In this role, you'll work closely with engineering and operations teams to assemble and modify electrical and electromechanical hardware, diagnose system issues, support prototype and test-system development, and maintain reliable technical equipment.

You'll work with a variety of hardware, including electrical components, computers, networking equipment, sensors, cable assemblies, and test equipment, while contributing to daily technical operations and ongoing product development. The ideal candidate enjoys working directly with hardware, is comfortable troubleshooting unfamiliar technical problems, and can transition between structured assembly procedures and more open-ended engineering and debugging tasks.
As an Engineering Technician, you'll:

  • Assemble, install, modify, test, and troubleshoot electrical, electromechanical, and computer-based hardware systems.
  • Diagnose hardware and system issues using electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical drawings, diagnostic tools, and documented procedures.
  • Build, modify, repair, and troubleshoot cable harnesses and electrical assemblies.
  • Support prototype builds, engineering development projects, system integration, and testing activities.
  • Assemble and configure computers, networking hardware, sensors, electronic components, and other commercially available hardware.
  • Use standard shop, laboratory, and diagnostic equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, soldering equipment, crimpers, torque tools, and harnessing tools.
  • Perform system validation, functional testing, and quality inspections according to engineering specifications and documented procedures.
  • Identify root causes of hardware failures and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve technical and integration issues.
  • Provide feedback on hardware design, manufacturability, assembly processes, serviceability, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of builds, configurations, troubleshooting, repairs, test results, and changes while tracking technical issues through ticketing or documentation systems.
  • Support parts receiving, inventory management, equipment installation, upgrades, maintenance, and decommissioning activities as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop or lab environment while following established safety and quality procedures.
  • Work independently on routine assignments while collaborating with engineering and cross-functional teams on more complex technical challenges.
Requirements
  • Hands-on technical experience in engineering support, electronics, electromechanical assembly, robotics, manufacturing, test engineering, or a related technical environment
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, electromechanical, computer, and integrated hardware systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical drawings, assembly instructions, and engineering documentation
  • Experience building, modifying, and troubleshooting electrical wiring and cable harnesses
  • Experience using common shop, assembly, and diagnostic tools, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, soldering irons, crimpers, torque tools, and related equipment
  • Familiarity with computer hardware, networking equipment, electrical components, and hardware/software integration
  • Experience working in a shop, laboratory, prototype, manufacturing, fleet, or testing environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, repeatable work
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, documentation, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineers and cross-functional partners
  • Ability to learn new tools, systems, and technologies in a fast-paced technical environment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • An associate's or bachelor's degree in engineering, electronics, mechatronics, robotics, or a related technical field
  • Technical or trade-school training in electronics, electromechanical systems, machining, or a related discipline
  • IPC-610,…
