What is this role on a high level? Let’s take a moment to see the overview of the role before we get into the nitty gritty. We are seeking Atelier Ten San Francisco’s newest full-time Environmental Designer Energy Analyst with a specialty in California’s Title
24, Part6 Building Energy Efficiency Standards (Energy Code) to help deliver innovative, high-performance building projects. In this role, you will perform whole building energy modeling, analyze residential and/or nonresidential projects, prepare documentation for compliance with Title
24 Energy Code, develop technical deliverables, and collaborate with project teams to advance energy efficiency, decarbonization, and building performance goals. As a key member of our interdisciplinary consulting team and Energy Analysis practice, you will help clients navigate California’s evolving energy code requirements and support teams in designing more energy efficient buildings. This position is in our San Francisco office and is not a remote position.

What your day-to-day looks like? Days at Atelier Ten are filled with a large variety of project types from offices, higher education buildings, and labs to large masterplans. We promise to keep you challenged and never bored.

• Develop energy models and compliance documentation for California Title
  24 Part6 projects using approved compliance software, supporting project teams through design, permitting, and code review processes
• Learn our internal methodologies that follow the energy analysis protocols of ASHRAE
  90.1 (and other industry standards) for new and existing building and planning projects in any location or climate zone
• Develop shoe-box and whole building energy models in CBECC, Energy Pro and/or IES-VE to support a range of energy analyses for building design and optioneering
• Identify and analyze net-zero energy and carbon strategies based on various metrics (i.e. carbon emissions, time of use rates, source/site, etc.)
• Analyze building envelope, HVAC, lighting, and domestic hot water systems for compliance with California Energy Code requirements and identify cost-effective pathways to exceed minimum code performance
• Prepare written summaries of work and technical reports for clients or other stakeholders
• Support senior staff to coordinate sustainability assessments, energy and thermal comfort analysis, energy benchmarking, development of climate impact mitigation strategies, perform life cycle cost analysis, etc. on building and planning projects
