Senior Examiner, Consumer Compliance – CRA

Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco is the U.S. region’s 12th District central bank, dedicated to advancing monetary, financial, and payment systems and building a stronger economy for all Americans. Our Supervision + Credit Group regulates banks, savings and loan holding companies, foreign banking organizations, and other financial institutions operating in the 12th District. We are looking for a Senior Examiner, Consumer Compliance – CRA to help promote market efficiency and fairness in consumer financial services by enforcing federal consumer protection laws and ensuring access to banking services in historically underserved markets.

Our ideal candidate has deep experience with the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) and is deeply committed to the CRA mission and goals. A commissioned examiner (through the Federal Reserve Examiner Commissioning Program, FDIC, or OCC) is required. We want you to bring expertise and passion to our team.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Act as a subject matter expert on CRA, providing guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in and lead consumer compliance supervisory events at large and complex financial institutions.
  • Communicate sound conclusions and recommendations to stakeholders regarding compliance systems and CRA programs.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships within the Federal Reserve System, other regulatory agencies, and supervised institutions.
  • Engage in formal training and mentorship programs for junior staff, providing performance feedback.
  • Represent the agency at conferences, seminars, and outreach activities to share regulatory perspectives.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of financial‑services and regulatory environments, particularly for CRA and related laws.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required (business, economics, finance, accounting, or related field preferred).
  • Active examiner commission issued by the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System or another federal agency.
  • Minimum of eight years of direct or comparable banking, financial industry, or supervision experience.
  • Strong understanding of CRA and community development principles.
  • Knowledge of risk management and banking principles.
  • Strong problem‑solving, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced familiarity with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 25 %.
  • Access to confidential supervisory information; eligibility as “Protected Individual” as defined by policy.
Compensation

Base Salary Range:
Minimum $159,900
Mid $207,700
Maximum $255,400 (San Francisco, CA)
