Tax​/Accounting

We're building out a Tax Planning & Analysis team to own the tax operations powering billions in private market volume. You'll work across K-1 preparation, fund-level tax planning, and investor tax reporting.

Most firms treat tax as a cost center — a liability to be managed. We think that, done well, tax is a strategic moat. You'll be working at the edge of what's possible with technology to lead this capability within Seed Labs: scaling tax strategy to hundreds of thousands of K-1s, not a few dozen.

If you're at a legacy fund administrator, you'll see the same services you offer today scaled faster than anyone else in the market.

If you're at a "tech-enabled" fund administrator that's really a services firm underneath, you'll get to build a genuinely scalable tax engine. Where exceptions pile up, you'll work closely with engineers to turn those exceptions into scalable strategies.

If you're at an investment firm or a tax practice handling a handful of K-1s, you'll switch between bespoke one-off cases for large clients and folding those insights into more returns than you've worked across before.

• - Manage K-1 preparation and distribution for SPVs, funds, and other investment vehicles on the platform
• - Support fund-level tax planning including entity structuring, allocation methodologies, and distribution waterfalls
• - Coordinate with external tax preparers and auditors to ensure timely and accurate filings
• - Build and maintain tax models for new fund structures and investment types
• - Analyze the tax implications of deal structures (SAFEs, convertible notes, equity rounds) for both fund-level and investor-level reporting
• - Improve internal processes and tooling for tax operations — automate where possible, document everything
• - Respond to investor tax inquiries and support investor relations during tax season
• - Monitor changes in tax law (partnership taxation, carried interest rules, Qualified Small Business Stock) and assess impact

• - Experience:
  
  has personally filed at least 2 years worth of 1065s/K1s for SPVs, venture funds, or similar investment structures
• - Strong understanding of K-1 preparation, Schedules K-1/K-2/K-3, and pass-through entity taxation
• - Proficiency: comfort using industry-standard tax software and Excel/Google Sheets for complex modeling
• - Articulate:
  Ability to explain tax concepts clearly to non-tax stakeholders (investors, operations, legal)

• - Experience at a Big 4 or mid-tier accounting firm in a partnership tax or financial services tax group
• - Familiarity with QSBS (Section 1202), carried interest (Section 1061), and opportunity zone tax benefits
• - Experience with fund administration platforms or tax automation tools
• - Background in venture capital, private equity, or alternative investments

$115K–$150K base salary, plus equity and a performance bonus. Exact compensation will depend on experience and location.
