About the Self‑Determination Program (SDP)SDP is a California state program that allows individuals with developmental disabilities and their families to direct how allocated funds are used to support independence, health, safety, and quality of life.
Unlike insurance‑based or clinical care models, SDP focuses on functional outcomes:
- Functional outcomes
- Independent living skills
- Routine development
- Behavioral regulation

Services are non‑clinical, individualized, and aligned with person‑centered goals, not diagnoses.
Role OverviewThe Behavioral & Lifestyle Coach supports clients by addressing the behavioral, emotional, and lifestyle factors that impact consistency, motivation, and outcomes in fitness and wellness programs.
This is a non‑clinical coaching role focused on:
- Habit formation
- Stress and energy management
- Emotional regulation
- Sustainable behavior change
Sessions are delivered virtually, in collaboration with in‑home trainers and Registered Dietitians (RDNs).
Key Responsibilities- Adaptive & SDP Support
- Coach individuals and caregivers on: emotional regulation and transitions, routine‑building and consistency, reducing resistance to movement and daily activities.
- Support neurodiverse clients using strengths‑based, sensory‑aware strategies.
- Collaborate with trainers, families, and RDNs.
- Document simple, functional progress notes aligned with SDP goals.
- Women’s Hormonal Wellness Support
- Coach women navigating PCOS‑related fatigue, stress, and motivation challenges; perimenopause and menopause transitions; body‑confidence and identity shifts.
- Support behavior change related to sleep and stress routines, nutrition adherence (with RDN collaboration), and sustainable movement habits.
- Background in behavioral coaching, health coaching, psychology (non‑licensed), special education, or women’s wellness.
- Experience with neurodiverse populations and/or women’s hormonal health.
- Comfortable working virtually in a collaborative, non‑clinical environment.
- Strong communication, coaching, and relationship‑building skills.
- This is not a therapy or medical role.
- No diagnosing or treatment plans.
- No insurance billing.
- Focus is on behavioral support, routines, and lifestyle change.
- SDP goals: independence, regulation, routine development.
- Women’s health outcomes: consistency, confidence, sustainable fitness.
- Trainer effectiveness and long‑term client retention.
