Position Overview
Performs a variety of technical procedures requiring judgment and knowledge of sophisticated equipment. Assists in visual acuity testing and performs extensive ophthalmic care patient work ups including Functional Dexterity Test, contrast sensitivity, intraocular lens master, pupil and angle checks, and pachymetry. Assists the ophthalmologist in minor surgical procedures, greets and identifies patients, takes a preliminary history, performs visual fields, dilates pupils, and performs departmental duties to improve patient flow and department function.
Education
HS Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
Certification & Licensure
COA-Certified Ophthalmic Assistant
BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
Experience
1 year recent relevant experience
Skills and Knowledge
Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology related to the eye.
Knowledge of scope of practice of a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant.
Competency in basic Ophthalmic Assisting skills such as chart documentation, taking vital signs, preparing patients for exam, performing ophthalmology testing.
Ability to efficiently operate Ophthalmology equipment.
Ability to establish priorities and coordinate work activities paying particular attention to detail.

Schedule:
Full Time, 40 weekly hours, Monday – Friday, 8‑hour shift hours.
