Job Summary
Under the supervision of the UCSF Health Administrative Nurse Manager, the Hospital Assistant III assists in the delivery of care to patients at UCSF Primary & Specialty. The role plays a critical role in patient experience, optimizes clinic flow, provides in‑clinic and outreach to patients, and works collaboratively with the team to create a patient‑centered environment. The assistant floats between the front and back office performing clerical and clinical duties, including personal care and nursing care procedures to assure positive care outcomes.
Responsibilities- Assist in the delivery of patient care in primary and specialty clinics.
- Optimize clinic flow and coordinate in‑clinic and outreach patient activities.
- Provide back‑up support and collaborate with the team to create a patient‑centered environment.
- Perform personal care and nursing care procedures, including laboratory and patient‑care procedures.
- Maintain professional and courteous demeanor, uphold service standards, and comply with Medical Center House and Telephone Standards.
- One year experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical practice.
- Certification from an approved Medical Assistant program or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Current American Heart Association CPR Certification.
- Phlebotomy certification (CPT).
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, and willingness to learn new programs.
- Ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Familiarity with immunization schedules and standard recommendations.
- Experience working in a public or clinical environment.
- Fluency in Spanish or Chinese (speaking, reading, writing).
- Experience with Epic (Apex) electronic health record system.
- Experience collecting and entering data, identifying errors, and performing basic analysis.
- American Heart Association BLS – CPR Certified.
- Phlebotomy certification (CPT).

Work Location & ScheduleSan Francisco, CA. Full‑time, 8‑hour days, Monday – Friday.
