Clinical Histocompatibility Scientist (CHS) Trainee
Job Summary
. This is a training position. The Trainee will be enrolled in a state‑approved training program for the Clinical Histocompatibility Scientist (CHS). Program link. While enrolled, the trainee will receive hands‑on training to perform the following laboratory procedures.
- HLA typing by molecular methods (e.g., RT‑PCR and next‑generation sequencing)
- KIR genotyping by SSP method
- Cross match by flow cytometry method
- Antibody screening by Luminex‑based method
- Chimerism testing by next‑generation sequencing method
- Other procedures performed by licensed histocompatibility personnel
- Other duties include:
- Accession samples using Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)
- Indonesia DNA from blood, buccal mucosa, and cells
- Isolate and cryopreserve lymphocytes from blood, spleen, and lymph nodes
- Prepare serum samples for testing
- Maintain sample inventory
- Prepare reagents for testing
- Perform QC and maintenance on laboratory equipment
- Maintain lab space and perform maintenance duties
- Order and stock lab supplies
- File lab reports
- Archive and scan documents
Incumbents must satisfy the requirements of the state‑approved training program for continuous enrollment. Employment beyond the training period depends on the receipt of the California license and the availability of a CHS/CLS position at ITL.
Required Qualifications- BA/BS in life science, clinical science, or an appropriate scientific field
- Relevant laboratory experience
- Must meet the academic requirements to enroll in the training program
- Ability to work variable shifts, including weekends, nights, and early mornings
- Accurate and able to process multiple samples without În Pleas
- Proficiency with personal computers
- Effective teamwork and communication skills
- Strong reliability, multitasking, and independent work under minimal supervision
- Tidy and orderly work environment
- Experience working with human samples
- Familiarity with QC/QA/QS in a clinical laboratory setting
- Knowledge of antigens and genetics of the HLA system and ability to interpret results
- California Trainee License in Clinical Histocompatibility before commencement of training
