The Carbon copies Foundation is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the science and technology of whole brain emulation. Founded by neuroscientists and technologists, we serve as a nexus for research collaboration, education, and public discourse on the path toward preserving and extending human cognition.
Our work spans multiple disciplines, including neuroscience, computer science, nanotechnology, and philosophy. Through workshops, webinars, publications, and community building, we bring together researchers, students, and enthusiasts who share our vision of developing technologies that may one day allow for the precise mapping and functional recreation of neural architectures.
Position Overview
This is a Remote Volunteer Position. As a Technical Onboarding Specialist at the Carbon copies Foundation, you will be instrumental in ensuring our new technical team members are equipped with the necessary tools and knowledge to contribute effectively to our mission.
Responsibilities / Duties
- Create and manage technical accounts for new team members across various platforms and systems
- Develop and maintain documentation for technical onboarding procedures
- Guide new technical volunteers through initial software setup and configuration
- Provide basic training on organizational tools and collaborative platforms
- Troubleshoot access issues and resolve technical onboarding challenges
- Coordinate with project leads to ensure appropriate permission levels and access rights
- Conduct follow-up sessions to verify successful integration of technical team members
- Identify opportunities to streamline and improve the technical onboarding process
- Maintain records of software licenses, access credentials, and system configurations
Qualifications/skills
- Strong technical aptitude with experience in account management and software setup
- Familiarity with collaboration tools, version control systems, and cloud-based platforms
- Excellent communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts clearly
- Patient and methodical approach to training and troubleshooting
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities
- Experience with documentation creation and maintenance
- Interest in neuroscience, technology, and the mission of the Carbon copies Foundation
- Background in IT support, systems administration, or technical training is beneficial
- Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with technical and HR teams
Time Commitment
- 1 hour weekly organization meeting
- 1 hour bi-weekly team meeting
- 1 hour daily co-working sessions
- Approximately 5 – 10 hours / week
- At least 5 months
