Head of Operations - Enable the World's First Digital Brain Emulation The Opportunity

Eon is pioneering brain emulation technology that will fundamentally transform our understanding of intelligence and consciousness. We're creating the world's first complete digital emulation of a mouse brain—mapping every neural connection and capturing the dynamic symphony of thought itself.

We need an exceptional Head of Operations to build the operational foundation that enables this moonshot. You'll own everything that keeps our scientists focused on this breakthrough - from finding our new lab space to implementing cutting-edge AI tools that make us 10x more efficient. This role is perfect for someone who gets excited about both organizing lab equipment AND testing the latest AI models to accelerate scientific discovery.

What

You'll Own

• Lab & Facilities Operations (35%)
• Own vendors, procurement, inventory, and facilities upkeep.
• Keep the lab organized, safe, and stocked; manage shipping/receiving (incl. international).
• Build out new space: layouts, equipment installs, labeling, storage, SOPs.
• Maintain basic safety/compliance records and training logs.
• Jump in yourself during crunch time.

• General Operations, Finance, & Project Management (40%)
• Design simple systems that people actually use (action tracking, meeting follow-ups, docs).
• Implement AI + automation across Slack/Email/Notion/Calendar/Drive.
• Track spend, handle POs/quotes, and support budgeting.
• Maintain investor CRM and key company databases.
• Jump on the urgent, ambiguous things and land them.

• Recruiting Excellence (25%)
• Run our Ashby pipeline and KPIs end-to-end: source, schedule, coordinate, close.
• Keep candidates moving fast with clear comms and zero calendar conflicts.
• Use checklists, templates + AI for fast resume screens.
• Maintain clean, accurate records.
• Hire 3–4 exceptional teammates in year one.

Must-Have Experience &

Skills:

• B.S. in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Neuroscience, or related field
• 1+ years working in a research lab (industry or academic). You know your way around a lab)
• Obsessive attention to detail and organization
• Love creating systems that actually work for people and make them more efficient
• Comfort with startup variety - every day is different
• You're an AI power user who's constantly experimenting with ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, and the latest models

Bonus Points For:

• Lab/office build-out experience; microscopy or neuroscience familiarity.
• Recruiting with Ashby; basic HR coordination.
• No-code automations (Zapier/Make/Airtable/Apps Script).
