Mercor is hiring experienced Competitive Math Experts to collaborate with a leading AI lab on a groundbreaking new project. The focus is on developing and evaluating advanced AI systems designed to reason through complex mathematical problems and simulate high‑level mathematical competition reasoning.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute mathematical expertise to the design and evaluation of AI‑generated reasoning and solutions
- Review AI outputs on challenging mathematical tasks for accuracy, rigor, and logical soundness
- Provide structured feedback on clarity, reasoning depth, and problem‑solving approach
- Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers to refine model reasoning and performance
- Strong background in competition mathematics (e.g., AMC, AIME, USAMO, IMO, or Putnam‑level experience)
- Deep understanding of problem‑solving in algebra, combinatorics, number theory, and geometry
- Excellent logical reasoning and written communication skills
- Background in mathematics, computer science, physics, or related field (high school, undergraduate, or graduate level welcome)

- Commitment:
Part‑time (20+ hours/week) - Schedule:
Fully remote and asynchronous – flexible working hours
- $80 USD/hour (independent contractor)
- Top performers may receive weekly bonus incentives based on performance and throughput
