UX Designer + Strategist, Freelance

Sköna is seeking a freelance UX Designer/Strategist to collaborate with our team on a project-by-project basis. This is a long-term freelance opportunity (not a full-time role), ideal for an inquisitive visionary passionate about user experience, digital strategy, and research-driven design. You’ll be leading UX research, defining information architecture, and ensuring seamless, intuitive digital experiences for our clients, and you will work closely with our in-house digital team.

We’re a small (but mighty) B2B creative agency based in San Francisco and Stockholm. We work with mostly high tech clients on a range of creative services including brand strategy and design, website development, campaign concepts, motion, and much more. Our team is tight-knit and we love what we do. We like to do great work but we don’t take ourselves too seriously.

We focus on collaboration to produce beautiful results, we leave our egos at the door and look for ways to always pitch in.

Lead user research, usability testing, and competitive analysis to inform web and UX strategy.

Develop user personas, journey maps, and information architecture frameworks.

Define wireframes, UX flows, and interaction strategies that guide digital design.

Work closely with designers and developers to ensure UX strategies are implemented effectively.

Present UX strategies and insights to clients, helping them understand the value of great user experiences.

5+ years of experience in UX strategy, research, or digital experience design.

Strong understanding of user research, information architecture, and usability testing.

Experience with tools like Figma, Creative Cloud, Google Analytics, and A/B testing platforms.

Ability to think holistically about user experience while also focusing on the details.

Excellent presentation and verbal communication skills—you can sell your ideas to clients and internal teams.

Ability to balance strategy with hands-on execution in a fast-paced environment.

B2B experience or agency experience is a plus.

• Freelance/contract-based (project-to-project, with potential for ongoing work)
• Flexible availability during regular PST working hours is preferred
• Occasional on-site collaboration in our SF office is a plus (snacks and weekly lunch provided)
• Competitive hourly or project-based rate, depending on experience
